We rented a day-cruiser for two families of four with young (6-3) children for an hours spin.
The staff were friendly and helped the kids, and as they weren't busy there were relaxed about us arriving early.
The kids had a great time (parents enjoyed it as well), we connected up to the bluetooth radio and made it a 'party boat', great fun.

After having spent more than 300 days on board Kris Cruiser's boats on the beautiful River Thames since 1993, we can only say: There is no better holiday!
Family run Kris Cruisers provides the very best and friendly service, the very best information and the very best boats
on the river. Their boats are in excellent condition, very well equipped and when moored for the night one can enjoy a cozy,
dry and warm cabin - even on the occasional wet day. In addition every boat has a superb Manul giving all the information one could wish, and then some.
On our 18 holidays on the river we have mainly travelled upstream - all the way to Lechlade and back. Just love it! Scenery is spectacular, lock-keepers are friendly and helpful and there are lots of things to do on the way. Windsor, Cookham, Marlow, Henley, Sonning, Goring, Wallingford, Abingdon, Oxford, Eynsham and Lechlade (and many places in between) are always nice to visit, and it is easy to navigate from pub to pub if one so wish. It is also easy to find moorings, either in the towns and villages,
or in 'the wilderness'.
We are happy to recommend Kris Cruisers to everyone who wants a first class boating holiday.

We hired a Day Boat from Kris Cruisers and motored along the River Thames. Passing through locks that had Lock Keepers made life much easier than having to manually manage them yourself and you get to meet some lovely people at the same time. The countryside is interesting with not only wildlife but also waterside properties that were spectacular - how the other half live!
Depending on the amount of time you hire a boat whether it is a few hours, a half or full day will determine how far you can go.
We hired Regal Lady which seats up to 8 people and has an inboard diesel engine. You are only allowed to travel at a maximum of 5mph so the type of boat depends on number in your party and price and they all travel at the same speed as they have limiters.
If you are beginners the instructors will show you the ropes.
The canvas hood protects you from all weathers.
A handy guide book will let you know the time allowed and you can go either up or down the river. Up towards Maidenhead or down towards Chertsey it is your choice.
It is an ideal way to spend a relaxing day on the river at no great expense. - Val W
What a fab idea for a holiday, we were completely new to this but the staff were extremely well informed and patient! Everything ran like clock work from arriving at the boat yard to setting off on our way to Windsor. Excellent tuition was given to set us on our way.The boat was very clean and in comparison to other rental boats we saw we chose the best company. Who knew a holiday could be so relaxing. Thank you and we will be back.

We hire a day boat from Kris cruisers and from the first contact they were great. Allowed us to change our booking at no extra cost. From arrival to returning the staff are very knowledgable and friendly. We would recommend them to everybody and are already looking to book a short trip again next year and several day trips with different friends.
Thanks to all the staff. - jamestG337DW
We parked picked up were given instruction and we were away for a week! Just 'er indoors and the dog. We were lucky because we had the first really good week of weather in August 2016. We LOVED it! we had a super week. 14 locks I think up to Sonning and back. The Lock keepers were absolute gents and we had good chats with all we met.Other boat were also such caring and helpful people. We felt so sorry for those dry bobs on land and those on the motorway. We had a 4 berth boat and we would probably upgrade the next time. Such a stress free holiday-just wonderful! And all the staff Kris cruises were fab as well!

This boat rental facility is a true treasure so close to London....the family owners are very friendly and helpful both with the booking on phone and all aspects of rental....while they have great boats for longer rentals there is nothing nicer than a half day(4hrs) or full day cruise with family or friends...we did it on impulse and their 6 seaters are great and you can enjoy something really special for under £100 for 4 hrs...a picnic and Windsor Castle views are a real bonus!....I would recommend to anyone who has not experienced such a delightful day out and wish Kris Cruisers another 50 years of providing such a wonderful amenity.

Our first holiday with Kris Cruisers though we have been boating many time before. Great customer service from this family firm. Our boat (Lady Sophie) was in good condition, well equipped and clean. Surprisingly spacious compared with other boats we have hired. A comprehensive handover & instruction. The base at Datchet is well positioned for travelling downriver (eg to Hampton Court) & we also managed to get upriver to Henley. Be aware that the engine is goverened so we found lots of other boats overtaking despite us being on the limit a lot of the time!
Overall, very pleased, certainly recommended.

We have just had a wonderful weeks holiday on the " lady annualised " a 5 star, 6 birth cruiser. The boat has three good size double bedrooms all ensuite. All the facilities on the boat are 5star. The staff at kris cruises are also 5 star. If you want a river cruise up and down the Thames start at kris cruises you will not be disappointed.

My wife, myself and my 11 year old son have just returned from a week aboard the Lady Keeleigh. Hand over was clear and simple as was the test run, staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The craft was well equipped and everything worked. Will certainly book again. - walkerthomas
We hired Lady Elizabeth for a week at the beginning of April 2016. Had a great holiday in a lovely boat. There was 8 of us ranging in age from 14 to 67 and we found Lady Elizabeth ticked all the boxes for all of us. The staff at Kris Cruisers went out of their way to accommodate our needs - we were looked after very well, For some of us this was our 6th boating holiday and certainly the best one to date. Can highly recommend Kris Cruisers and the River Thames for a brilliant, relaxing holiday. Our thanks to you all and hope to see you again.

I've had a number of wonderful days out on The Thames in Kris Cruisers electric day boats over the years. Without exception they've been excellent and extremely helpful and accommodating.
Definitely chose an electric launch as it's quieter, much more relaxing and certainly more reliable than diesel motor boats. You'll get closer to the wildlife and nature too.
Take a picnic and moor up past Windsor for the perfect summer's day out.
You can do Runnymede in the morning and Eaton and Windsor in the afternoon for the all-day round trip.

We have just completed a week on Lady Sophie which was an ideal boat for a couple. The boat was well equipped in all aspects and the staff very friendly and helpful. We saw parts of England from the boat that we would not have if traveling by car. We were very pleasantly surprised after booking on the internet sight unseen. Would recommend this company to everyone who wants a boating holiday.

Walked in after young son wanted to hire a boat, friendly staff looked after us and was out and away in under 15 minutes, went out for two hours just about right for us, if we had pre planned we would of gone for four hours and taken a picnic with us, can't fault them at all, great service and great value for money,

I have been on many self drive cruiser waterway holidays over the last twenty years smd have to say that the trip we had with our grandchildren from Kris Cruisers was the best. The organisation was excellent, the boat very well presented and all staff courteous and helpful. I hope to book again soon. Mosteop
Can't complain, excellent. Invited friends down for the weekend, hired a boat, took a picnic and a few drinks. Had a good time. Can't see why anyone wouldn't have a good time boating on the river. Leonard42
We booked the smallest boat, which takes six people. It is surprisingly roomy and we had plenty of space for the four of us and the dog but even six people would not feel cramped. The boats are quiet and electrically driven so very easy to use. We had time to cruise to Boulter's Lock at Maidenhead and back, going through three locks (all manned) on the way. The boat potters along at 5 mph, so this is no thrill ride, but very relaxing. There is lots to see as you sail past Eton, Windsor, Bray and Maidenhead. It was a lovely day. The staff and manager are extremely polite and helpful and there is plenty of parking on site. We thought it good value for money and recommend it.

We hired the Lady Kristina for a week's boating on the Thames. Everything was ready for us on arrival including help getting our Tesco order loaded up! Good location near Windsor.
The boat was as described, very clean and well kitted out. One word of caution if you want a proper hairdryer then this boat may not be for you and you'll need to get a 5star boat. That said there are plenty of places along the Thames to assist.
Paul, Pam, Baz and Andrew were all great; even allowing a nosey view of other boats available (those not already hired out).
Excellent service all round and boating on the Thames is a relaxing break I would recommend to anyone

Absolutely loved our "Little Lady" for 6 people, we were 4 adults and there was plenty of room, this was a surprise 40th day out treat for my partner and some friends, we were welcomed to decorate the boat with plenty of "40th" balloons and banners (after a quick phone call to check before booking) and this really added to the whole surprise, we also took a lovely picnic to enjoy at various moorings. We were shown how to use everything by a really friendly crew member and he answered any questions we had, helped with the ropes and waved us off on our day trip. The prices are really good and very much value for money and we had such a laugh, the Lock guys were brilliant and helpful and it really was a great experience I would recommend, cannot wait for our next trip. Thank you for making it so special, answering my many questions, letting us decorate the boat and offering a great, fun experience.

Many thanks to all of you for our trip last Friday, we loved the boat and had fun aboard. My Mother who's treat it was loved it.
Your staff were all very friendly and informative which made our day more enjoyable.
Not sure what we will be able to do next year for her birthday to beat it, maybe we will have to do it again
and head in the opposite direction.
Please give a big thank you to all the staff from us.

We hired Lady Kristina for a short break. with three older family members joining us on board. As a child in the 1970s, I enjoyed a few boating holidays with my parents and it was interesting to see what has changed in the past 30-40 years! The whole Thames cruising experience has changed quite a bit since then, with fewer boatyards/rental options than before, so it was great to see that Kris Cruisers offer a good product and excellent customer service. The boat was possibly not the newest or swankiest boat in the fleet but it was nonetheless very clean, well equipped and spacious enough for our needs, as two of our party were only staying on-board for one night. I was also very pleased to see how the on-board toilets are a little more sophisticated these days! Before setting off, we had a careful and thorough briefing from Nathan, who was very friendly and had more confidence in us than we did ourselves... and we appreciated all his input. We managed to make it all the way to Reading by Wednesday lunchtime before turning round - and our only issue was due to heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon which made it difficult to continue to travel. Unfortunately the windscreen wiper was not very efficient, so this necessitated having the driver's window open in order to see ahead. However, because of how far we had already come upstream, we had to plough on for a while getting very wet, otherwise we felt that we would have struggled to get all the way back to Datchet in time to hand the boat back on Friday morning. When we did moor for the night, we had to settle for a bit of a rough mooring at Hurley, as we didn't feel we could carry on any longer. It turns out we probably could have tied up a little closer to the lock than we did but we weren't confident of finding a space. I'm sure there was a far greater choice of public moorings in the 1970s but nowadays there seem to be a lot more private moorings than I recall being the case before. Places like Marlow and Henley are very difficult if you want to find public moorings close to facilities and eating estabishments. We had a few adventures at the various locks. "Self-service" had us all a bit bemused but by the time we went through Romney lock for the second time on Friday morning, we had almost mastered it! Most of the lock-keepers were very helpful and friendly and made us feel not quite as inept as we clearly were. Very thrilled to find a beautiful Siamese cat strolling round at one lock - Shiplake perhaps? I would recomment this as a holiday - either for a first attempt or if you are considering re-visiting it. Kris Cruisers are definitely to be recommended - many thanks to you all. Lovely posh loos at the boatyard too!

My husband and I and our friends had a great vacation on a Kris Cruiser boat. When ever we needed help, they were fast to offer it. Before the first trip we had a fine introduction to the boat and the river. We have booked for our summer holiday 2016.

We hired a 10 seater boat between 8 of us for half a day and traveled up stream through Windsor and up towards Eton and Dorney Lake. The day started off with a brief overview of how to use the boat and then we were off. We were informed that when we got to the locks up stream there would be controller at each lock to guide us through, however when we got to the first lock it was empty, this only added to the adventure, the lock turned out to be very simple to open and close as it was fully automated all you had to do was press a button. One tip here is we pulled into and empty lock and then had to scramble out up some very wet, slippery and dirty steps; it would have been far better (& safer) to have got out along the river bank before hand. It was throughly enjoyable day; our only regret is we book a half day instead of a full day. If we were to book again (which we will) I would probably look to have one of the electric boats as the engine is quieter than the diesel engine we had.
